One Year!

One Year Today!

Wow, I can't believe that a year ago, we received the keys to this house, closed escrow and were delighted and scared to jump into this humongous project.

This was us a year ago ONE YEAR AGO!! How quickly time flies and here we are in the same spot, and not much has changed in our house (lol).  Maybe got some curtains up in the windows, we have a grassy lawn, the kitchen, powder room, master bathroom, master bedroom are done (ish). Everything is semi, and needs touch up. The pantry, brown room and the yellow room are in works right now.....along with everything else, like the foundation and the rest of the house. Not to mention a mess of a backyard we have......

It's a long road ahead of us....

New Year's Eve! Last day of 2014.....

Wow, where did 2014 go?! Is it already the last day of the year?

So much has happened this year. This year started off with my grandpa being hospitalized and me flying over to Japan to see him, followed by scuba diving lessons and testing, then finding a house and making an offer on it, onto our first trip to Cozumel and Mexico (for scuba diving), to come back to more waiting for court dates on our house, to winning the house bid, through escrow, then through a grueling, pull-my-hair-out 2.5 months of bathroom and kitchen renovations, then another month of clean up and prep for our big move, then the actual big move during Thanksgiving weekend, then unpacking and living in boxes for a few weeks, then Christmas of course wigh family, then finally here we are. Last day of this year and we are still fixing up and working on the house. We are still living in boxes and probably will be for another few months. Wow. WHAT. A. YEAR.

Like Little P here in this picture I am hopeful and looking up towards 2015. I hope it's filled with happiness and health for the Man and I as well as all our family and friends.

2-1/2 months of waiting and....

We are finally first time home buyers!! Officially July 29, 2014 we closed escrow. We couldn't be more excited. A long sale and escrow process (2.5 months to be exact), but I'm glad we were patient enough to wait!! Now for our big project! Renovations, restoration and making it our very own.

What's eating the Lady up this week!

The big thing that's been eating me up lately is our newest venture, buying a freakin' house. It's more like what's been bugging the heck out of the Lady lately. Buying a new house. Seems easy enough. Nope, not in California and certainly not in Los Angeles. This market's a fighter, and we have been losing badly. So far, Market +4, the Lady & the Man 0.....

Recently, we came upon a beautiful Victorian home marvelously preserved since 1900. It took our breath away and we knew right away that we wanted this house. Fast forward a few weeks, we won the bid!!! It was a big deal since we've never won any bids and always lost against cash offers or investors. We were ecstatic. The only problem is, we haven't won it completely. It's a probate sale home, which means by law it has to be publicly auction after a bid has been accepted. If no one bids on the house, it's ours.

This seems like nonsense to me. If we won the bid, we won the bid. Apparently it doesn't work like that. And it's been making me crazy and on-edge for about a month as we wait for this auction date. Now with the auction date being tomorrow, I am a nerve-racking, exhausted, antsy mess. I WANT the house! We have searched for a year now, isn't that enough real estate gods?! Give us a break and let us win this house! Pleaseeee.
