Transplanting has started!

Finally, 1 month after we started building this raised bed planter (2.14.15), we filled up the planter with a mixture of soils and we transplanted and also planted some seeds! Yay progression! And it looks pretty rad too! I can't wait for the veggies to start growing. I have to put on a netting so animals can't get it to but it is pretty much complete. Now for the sun to do its work.

(Finally filled with lots of soil and worms!)

(The Man picking out WORMS from the garden....yuck)

(Transplanting has happened)

(I'm already out of space and I have so much more to plant!)

(It was so bloody hot this weekend, found
Little P in this odd position, pressed up against
the glass. Poor baby was so hot)

It's like Summer is here!

Holy moly, it is HOT! Well, at least today it is, and apparently this weekend it's going to be in the 90s!! That's record heat for March!

I love it though. Perks of being an LAer, the beautiful weather. And because of this gorgeous warm weather, my little seedlings have started to sprout!! I was so excited, it's funny. The smallest little thing like seeing sprouts made me so happy! Urban gardening has happened! This weekend I plan to transplant the plants into our planter. Yay, finally!

(Basil started sprouting too!)

(My Miraclegrow experiment - all of them have sprouted, indoors)

(My organic soil experiment - only 1 seedling has sprouted indoors)

(Even Little P thinks it's hot!)

Where did summer go?!

I cannot believe that it is already September......where did summer go? Seriously?! Sigh........

Time moves so quickly as an adult. As a kid, I used to love summer. Summer seemed endless. Literally. Months and months of free time to do whatever I wanted to do. I love the heat, I love the sunny blue skies, I love the ocean and the pool. I really miss summer as a kid.

As an adult, summer is no different than any other season. In fact, it kind of sucks. You see all these people who have great jobs and have the summer off, or friends that take amazing summer vacations. Shoot. The Man and I worked all summer. I guess we got to go to Cozumel at the beginning of summer.....I guess we were lucky to do that all before this new house drama.

Where did summer go. Now, as an adult, I am slowly disliking summer. Ever year it seems worse. Hot, hot, hot. Hot is miserable. Hot makes me cranky. Hot gives me headaches. Hot = can't sleep. Hot = Punas can't sleep.....Yuck. I'm done with summer!! I can't wait for the autumn crisp, cool weather. Sunny days but chilly 70 degrees. I have no patience for 90+ degree weather anymore.

I can just feel it. I am jaded. Adulthood brings responsibilities. Five, six years ago, I would have never said these words. Summer was great in my twenties. Beach on the weekends, staying up late bonfiring, going to watch favorite bands play at cool venues, eat whatever the heck I wanted, and not even worry about sunblock because heck, I'm young. Wow I am sounding super cynical today. Guess age jades you. Like a lot..... Anyway, autumn please come quickly.

(The beautiful and stunning Kapalua Bay in Maui, HI last October. Just gorgeous. I miss summers like this.
Lazy, watching the sunset on the beach, doing nothing, enjoying life....)

Jaded,

The Caliente Pit Called Tulum

Tulum is deceiving beautiful and pristine but my goodness, it was a fire pit. Hot, muggy, humid, stiffiling and many more words for miserable hotness are probably the best words to describe Tulum. Don't get me wrong, I think it's one of the most beautiful places in the world. White sand beaches, quiet and not too touristy, hip boutique hotels, turquoise waters. It's amazing. But boy did we suffer.

(Beach right in front of our hotel at sunset)

(Beach and palapas in front of our hotel)

We would definitely check out Tulum again but do note folks, it's much more expensive than the Playa or Cozumel. In fact, around the hotel strip, food and taxis are overpriced and frankly a rip off. We split a cab ride with a fellow couple from our hotel one day because they thought the taxi ride was mucho dinero too. For a 10 minute ride from the intersection of Hwy 370 (where the corner 7-Eleven is) to the hotel row, it cost over 100 pesos! Yikes!

However, it is hard to argue, this place is expensive but gorgeous. How can you be upset when you have a view like this at breakfast?! The waters of Tulum were a bit rough, but still warm and nice enough for a cooling dip. We swam in the ocean a bit, relaxed on a hammock and just took it easy.

(Playa Kin Ha's dining area. Gorgeous views!!)

Tulum is known for it's Cenotes and archaeological ruins from the Mayan culture. I'm glad the Man and I got a chance to see and enjoy Tulum, even for a short time. The rest of our trip did not have views as stunning as these and it was not as relaxing either.
